Friday, December 28, 2007 The next time i attend a chalet/bbq, i'd better learn to cycle.
Thursday, December 27, 2007 Beep The Pussycat Dolls Not exactly my kind of music but after listening to it for a million times on tv last night, i can't get the tune outta ma head! Finally had training yesterday for the first time in two weeks and i felt so.. out of touch. Did lunges non-stop for the whole training session, then free fenced for an hour after. Discussed with min about my progress and all, and he said i'm doing better now than before i quitted two and a half years back. Better ideas, thinking.. basically the mental aspect of fencing. That's the only consolation. He then proceeded to add that my hits are not as strong as before. The thing is that i NEVER had much of a strong hit!!! It must be very bad now then. Anyone knows of any exercise to strengthen the wrist and forearm muscles? Do wrist curls help? Maybe i should ask tennis queen when i meet her again soon. Sylvester fetched min home, before sending me to nick's place. Nick organised a mini christmas gathering for mainly the CSE people and um, close affiliates. Pretty fun! Lotsa talking and laughing and bumming. We watched the channel 8 show together, and then The Search for the Next (Pussycat) Doll, hence the ear worm attack. Mixed some drinks, which claire calls the fake screwdriver. Had the worst muscle cramp i've ever had on my right thigh just as we were about to leave. So much so that i couldn't even bend my leg, let alone get up from nick's kitchen floor. So i just sat there wincing in pain and being on the verge of crying but ho, thanks to the wonderful people there, i could walk after a bit of drama. Thank you so much! Especially dearest shi min, who accompanied me all the way back to CCK, before my dad came to take me home. Thank you! My dear cousin's supposed to be arriving from perth today, but till now, not a single phone call from her! So it's another day of vegging on tv, i guess.
Tuesday, December 25, 2007 ![]() MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Monday, December 24, 2007 Spent my christmas eve watching Nanking with timon at vivo 'coz National Treasure was "selling fast". It was more like a documentary than a show; about Japan invading China in the late 1930s. Yeah, what a film to watch on christmas eve. So depressing. Timon and i were discussing about our schooling plans after A levels. He's considering between a scholarship to Harvard and the numerous local scholarships offered. And also his expected grades after prelims which we'll, according to him, receive next year too: 4 As. That used to be quite a dodgy subject for me a couple of months back, since i couldn't deal with the fact that i'm in pjc. But i've really gotten over it over the months, with the new friends (namely the girls), opportunity to pick up fencing again etc being my form of solace. And also since timon's one of the few rafflesians i know who do not judge people based on their schools, it helped quite a bit today. Sigh, fancy staying home on the night of christmas eve playing poker on facebook. Btw, merry christmas everyone.

Friday, December 21, 2007 Not to complain but after having done house work for almost two grueling weeks, i'm feeling a bit disgruntled. It doesn't help that the other two know nuts about mopping and washing, nor to have someone around who doesn't even do her own dishes, yet leave food bits around to attract ants. Sigh, i feel so cheated of my holidays. Wanted to start building my momentum up for school but i could barely get past 'Graphs', which happens to only be Topic 2. Unable to begin on lit coz um.. i lost the ajc stuff we were given to work on. Tried downloading geography tutorial from the portal thrice, but all three times my screen just froze. Excuses, excuses, excuses. Fine mebbe i'll read at least two chapters of the rj econs notes timon passed by monday evening. Econs wouldn't disappoint me, right? Hahaha talking to fel about homework now.. There's this church christmas bash tomorrow, and i'm not even half prepared for it. Gonna finish doing up the cards and get some gifts tomorrow morn. Then to mng sales with jolyn! I hope it's good. And about the scabs, well, my knees are just in a raw pink mess. Yeah lah, how dizguzting. But it's healing, really. I'm missing ethel choy!
Wednesday, December 19, 2007 Currently Playing:White Christmas Diana Krall Been listening to christmas songs the entire morning in an attempt to immerse myself in the holiday season but alas, it's not working too well. I've been staying home these days cuz jolyn's away at camp and i've to look after jerica. And miss training later. Who, me? Bitter? Never. I've been doing a bit of reading recently. Currently on Margaret Dickinson's Wish Me Luck, a book about wartime romance. Weiwen claimed such stories always end with the main male character dead. Hmm.. we'll see. And i've found a copy of Another Place by Boey Kim Cheng in the library. The poems look as intimidating as Plath's. Seems like we're in for a tough time again next year. Anyway i'm also guiltily indulging in gossip girl novels. Still prefer the books to the show. But okay to be fair, i haven't been keeping up with the episodes. I know i shouldn't be doing it, but i'm preoccupied with picking at my scabs, with jerica staring away in disgust. Not so much concerned about it leaving scars. Just desperate to get rid of the damn itch.
Saturday, December 15, 2007 Currently Playing:Take A Chance The Magic Numbers Happy saturday everyone! Met esther to go for rjc invites early afternoon yesterday. We found out that we couldn't fence just hours before the competition but we went down to watch anyway. Met a couple of fencers who're back from korat and weiwen got us sea games tshirts. So thoughtful. Well, i'm not sure about the other weapon groups, but rjc won women's sabre. Followed by phoebe from hci. Had dinner with ww and esther at ichiban sushi after that. Relatively economical, as compared to sakae and the likes. And great company. Probably gonna go out with some fencers in the day tomorrow, then meet the girls at night to celebrate ethel's birthday. To quote crystal, ooh so EGGCITING!
Thursday, December 13, 2007 Jo got into acjc.
Wednesday, December 12, 2007 I fell and skinned my knees pretty badly while rollerblading just now. Amazingly the stinging pain was still tolerable when i showered just now so it's fine. Training was quite good today coz min gave us a lot of individual attention. He corrected many of the silly mistakes i made the last time. And i managed to fence my favourite sparring partner esther after training, with min guiding from the side. Peng came soon after and min brought us three dinner. :> Jolyn's PAE posting will be out tomorrow. I can't help feeling excited for her!
Tuesday, December 11, 2007 Lemon Tree Fool's Garden Been listening to a lot of oldies these days, like michael learns to rock. i used to like them very much when i was young, no, i mean younger. Talking to esther on msn now. she had to remind me about the time we had sushi at the airport before our flight and i almost vomitted it out. well according to her, it made her want to vomit too. hahahah so retarded. only sharm was laughing during the whole incident. aiya pardon me, i'm not a fan of red raw fishy-gooey stuff. the mere thought of it makes me want to hurl. My maid's leaving very early tomorrow. dad's started to become quite frantic about the household chores. for one, he told us off for not practising pressing the buttons on the washing machine last night. well, i don't blame him! Meeting esther before training tomorrow to rollerblade at east coast. i really hope it won't rain.
Monday, December 10, 2007 Dec 9, 2007 SEA Games: Fencer Lim misses out on gold By Marc Lim, IN KORAT LIM Wei Wen is not one to cry easily. But at the Suranaree University of Technology on Sunday, the 22-year-old national fencer could not fight back the tears. Those watching the men's individual epee final could hardly blame him. He had come agonisingly close to delivering Singapore a dramatic gold medal. Had he won, he would have been the first Singaporean man to win a fencing individual gold medal. But despite stretching Vietnam's Do Huu Cuong to the limit, the South-east Asia Games debutant succumbed in sudden death. The match was also remembered for a dramatic collision between the two fencers. With Lim leading 9-6 , Do lunged in for an attack, but ended up clashing into the Singaporean. Both athletes were winded and the final had to be delayed for a few minutes. It was then that the tide turned, as Do caught up to draw 10-10. Lim led 12-10 with 43 seconds left in the final, but could not hold as as Do again drew level. In sudden death, Do continued his momentum to clinch the gold. Lim's teammate Lin Qinghui won the bronze. Said Lim, as he was consoled by Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports Parliamentary Secretary Teo Ser Luck: 'It's disappointing. But I didn't expect I could go so far. 'So in a way, silver is something I can be proud of.' ----------------- Got this article here. Talking to ww on msn now and he's so upset i feel like crying for him. i think he has done exceedingly well, having only begun fencing in 2005. That's my sports idol. Go(ld) boss! Tomorrow!
Sunday, December 09, 2007 I Am For You Waking Ashland I had a rather pleasant day, despite waking up with a terrible sore throat. Went for training and min paired us up for partner training. i got paired up with coach yl and it's one of the most productive training i've had in a while. my arm was aching so badly from all that parry riposte exercises and yl moved soooo fast i couldn't catch my breath after five minutes of doing parry riposte with footwork and lunges up and down the piste non-stop. i swear it's super tiring; worse than running. Free fenced immediately after training and it was again a non-stop thing. fenced 3 consecutive 15-points bouts with janelle, kai and an indian boy (forgot his name), before ending with a 5-points bout with jolin. so exhausting i must be getting old.. Met crystal after training to go to nick's place. i've never been a fan of steamboat but i have to admit that the steamboat was very good. well-organised, cosy environment and great company. like ethel's bbq! My maid's leaving for two weeks. dad's been making us learn how to do the household chores for the last few days. my role's to learn to operate the washing machine. shouldn't be too tough, right? Two weeks seem like an awfully long time but it's okay, we'll manage. not a bad idea to feel like cinderella once in a while.. So i suppose you now know why both jolyn and jerica are feeling pretty enthusiastic about it.

Thursday, December 06, 2007 Currently Playing:Won't Go Home Without You Maroon 5 Yesterday was just plain.. weird. sorry for lack of a better word. had training as usual, did footwork for a full hour. my thighs are now aching from the million lunges. fenced jingxiao for the very first time. whatever happened after that, i'm not going into details. but i'm seriously quite freaked out. James wong texted to say that application for rjc invites' over. sigh. i miss competitions. not so much to win (or alas to lose for that matter), but just the whole atmosphere. Fencing's taking over my life. Okay on another note, ethel's place for bbq tomorrow evening. i hope the weather'll be good. It's been pouring these days..
Tuesday, December 04, 2007 Weiwen texted me to say that they've got internet connection over in korat! flew online, and felt really comforted after hearing their voices on msn. well they're enjoying themselves very much in korat. lotsa milo and good food, i've heard.
Monday, December 03, 2007 Currently Playing: Fly Me To The Moon Claire Littley Of all the versions of this song, i think i like this best. Been watching quite a bit of movies these days. caught Enchanted at plaza sing with crystal today and we both agree that it's fantastic. storyline's quite predictable but everything else's so.. pretty! Most of the SEA games fencers are leaving for korat tomorrow morning. i'll definitely be missing a couple of people but oh well, i think i'm getting used to it. all the best to SEA games fencers btw, especially the people who took care of us in taipei. to quote nick fang and weiwen's advice to us the last time, just whack! Sigh i don't know why i'm feeling a little melancholy tonight. the song, maybe? On a lighter note, rjc invitationals' coming. i don't know if dateline for registration is up or not but i'm trying my luck anyhow. oh and ethel's bbq on friday! definitely something to look forward to. Ah, already i'm feeling better.. :) Be well.
Here Comes The Sun The Beatles Brilliant day. met ____ early afternoon, got a ride from him to beach road for a show with vicki. shopped at cityhall after and i blew all my money on food and accessories. i bought so many pairs of earrings my maid said i'm crazy. Had lunch with esther and ww at pizzahut yesterday. ww had to train with the china sparring partners and we went down to the sports hall to say hi to ann. cabbed down to town with esther to shop. came home, changed and went for dins at some relatives' place. ugh it was so noisy like market i tell you. seriously. Okay i'm feeling terribly sleepy. To bed now!
